Trusted Hands – Hannah Pendlebury

Trusted Hands is a series spotlighting the facialists we trust implicitly — with our skin, and with our brand. These are the practitioners who blend deep technical knowledge with intuitive care, who treat skin as both science and art. They are masters of their craft, passionate educators, and proud stockists of TWYG. We created this series to share their wisdom, celebrate their work, and introduce you to the hands we trust most.

This month, we're delighted to spotlight Hannah — a facialist whose work is rooted in the art of mindful touch and the transformative power of facial massage. With a deep specialism in lymphatic drainage and a philosophy built on intentional, consistent ritual, Hannah approaches skincare as something far more than surface-level. She believes true radiance comes from working in harmony with the skin's natural processes — stimulating circulation, releasing tension, and restoring flow from within. Guided by a love of science-backed botanicals and a keen understanding of the body's interconnected systems, Hannah's treatments offer more than a glow — they offer a genuine reset, for skin and self alike.

HOW HAS YOUR APPROACH TO SKINCARE EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS?

I’ve always had a natural interest in skincare and beauty from a young age. In my teens, my mum introduced me to Clarins, which became a staple for many years. It really suited my skin and gave me a strong foundation early on. I was also quite fortunate not to experience many breakouts, which I largely attribute to my lifestyle at the time, competing in athletics meant I was very mindful of my nutrition and overall health.

As I’ve gotten older, my approach has become far more intentional and informed. I’ve gravitated towards active botanicals and formulations that support the skin on a deeper, more functional level. This shift has made a noticeable difference in my skin’s tone, texture, and overall radiance. Now, I’m much more focused on choosing products that work in harmony with the skin, supporting its natural processes rather than simply treating it on the surface.

WHAT SMALL CHANGES OR HABITS HAVE MADE THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON YOUR SKIN?

For me, it’s the simple, consistent rituals that have had the biggest impact. Every morning starts with a big glass of water, something I’ve done for years, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.

From there, I keep my routine intentionally minimal but mindful. I cleanse with a balm and take a few extra minutes to incorporate facial massage, focusing on lymphatic drainage techniques. It’s a small shift, but it makes a noticeable difference, stimulating circulation, releasing built-up tension, and softening areas of tightness, particularly through the jaw and neck.

Over time, I’ve seen a real change in my skin’s overall glow and clarity. It’s less about doing more, and more about doing things well, consistently, and with intention.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SKINCARE INGREDIENT?

It’s hard to choose just one, as I tend to be drawn more to thoughtfully formulated blends rather than a single “hero” ingredient. I love science backed botanicals, ingredients that not only feel beautiful on the skin but are also proven to support its function and overall health.

For me, it’s really about synergy. When natural actives are combined in a way that enhances their efficacy, you get far better results than relying on one ingredient alone.

This is something I really appreciate in the TWYG range, where ingredients are layered thoughtfully to work in harmony with the skin

WHAT’S THE STRANGEST OR MOST NICHE SKINCARE TOOL, TECHNIQUE OR TREND YOU’VE EVER TRIED (OR SECRETLY LOVE)?

Honestly, it’s not that strange in my world anymore, but my morning ice block ritual is probably the most niche thing I swear by. It’s a bit savage first thing, but nothing de-puffs and wakes up the skin quite like it .. cold, chaotic, and weirdly addictive. Gua sha is another non-negotiable for me. It’s become that quiet little saviour for releasing facial tension and getting that lifted, fresh skin glow without doing too much. And then there’s my slightly more glamorous recovery habit, winding down with infrared saunas at Nimbus. The perfect reset for both skin and nervous system.

WHAT SKINCARE MYTH DO YOU WISH WOULD FINALLY DIE?

The idea that skincare is only about what you put on your skin. My background is also in nutrition, so I’m a big believer that skin health is very much influenced by lifestyle too. It’s what we put inside our bodies as well, hydration, nutrition, stress levels, and overall wellbeing all play a huge role in how the skin looks and functions.

DO YOU HAVE A RITUAL OR SENSORY CUE THAT GROUNDS YOU BEFORE WORKING WITH YOUR CLIENTS?

Movement is huge for me. I do a mix of strength and conditioning alongside mobility work, it’s a non-negotiable, especially as a therapist in such a physically demanding role. Keeping my own body strong and mobile really helps me stay present and effective with clients. I also love using palo santo in the space, it helps create a calm, grounded atmosphere and signals a bit of a reset before each treatment.

WHAT IS CURRENTLY INSPIRING YOU?

Right now, I’m really inspired by the connection between movement, touch, and skin health. As a therapist, I see how much tension we hold in the body, especially through the jaw, neck, and shoulders and how clearly that shows up in the skin.

I’m drawn to more integrated approaches that combine skincare with facial massage, and lymphatic drainage. I find it fascinating how these methods can support circulation, reduce stagnation, and create a sense of lift and vitality in the skin.

I’m also increasingly interested in the gut, skin connection and how internal health is reflected externally. It’s that balance of science and intuition that continues to inspire me, seeing the skin as part of a much bigger, interconnected system.

FAVOURITE TWYG PRODUCT?

Definitely the TWYG Renewing Antioxidant Facial Oil. I’m obsessed with it, the texture is so beautifully balanced, deeply nourishing without ever feeling heavy or greasy on the skin.

It sits perfectly for facial massage and makes the whole ritual feel really effortless and sensory. I love how it leaves the skin looking soft, hydrated, and luminous, almost like a natural glow is restored rather than created.
